My Christmas Prayer

Dear Jesus

During this time of year we celebrate your birth, and are grateful for the greatest gift of all, you. We're so glad you came to the earth. You faced all the same challenges and temptations we do today, and you showed us how to live as we should.

We thank you for making peace available to us. It's not always easy for us to attain peace, because to do so requires us to surrender to you. We want to control as much of our lives as we can. And yet only in giving our lives totally over to you can we find real peace in our hearts.

We thank you that when you whispered "Peace, be still" to the storm on the Sea of Galilee, you were speaking to the storms in our hearts as well.

We thank you that when you forgave those who crucified you, we learned that in forgiveness is peace.

We thank you for your expressing your feeling of abandonment on the cross; we can now have the peace of knowing that our Father will never leave us nor forsake us.

We thank you most of all for giving your life for us so we can have peace about the promise of eternal life with you in Heaven.

Happy Birthday, Jesus. We love you.
